Final score of last night's game: 10-0. With, obviously, some great pitching from Boomer and some fine defense backing him up. Now that's what I'm talking about.

In celebration of the shut-out, and the fact that I found a picture I liked, I finally got around to making that Wells icon I've been whinging about needing for like a month now. This brings me up to my icon limit, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do when I need a new one. How in hell I ever managed with just three spots is beyond me.

So I'm a happy little sports fan. All I need now is for my other teams to quit losing by one lousy run. Tigers? Astros? THIS MEANS YOU. A one-run loss, while better than getting flattened, is still just depressing.

Edit: And the Tigers have obligingly won their game today, 7-1. Heh, with four of those runs in the ninth inning. Would have liked to see the pitching from that closer. (Incidentally, since this post is concerned primarily with pitchers I love: Jeremy Bonderman. I mean, yeah, his two wins are against the Royals, but he's still off to a great start for the season. I'll be keeping an eye on him this year. Which just reminds me of how badly I want to be able to watch Tigers games. Sigh.)

So much for Manny struggling at the plate. He got a two-run homer in the third innings. And then at his next at-bat, he got a GRAND SLAM.

Gotta love this series so far.

Oh, and also? The Orioles come from behind to score FIVE runs in the seventh inning and kill the Yankees. By one run.

Dear Yankees,

It is okay when you lose by one run. Especially when it's to the Orioles.

Smirking,
Cathryn

So to recap: The Tigers squish the Royals. Manny breaks his quasi-slump with a two-run homer and a grand slam. The Yankees waste a four-run lead. And personally I'm still not over Wells's shut-out. And the Astros . . . uh, still have Andy Pettitte, and he is still hot. Yes, this is a lovely day.

"I think David's the best hitter on the team, and I'm just passing by."

Awwww Manny. Love! He only drove in all six runs of the game, and yet. I think that quote's right up there with "I don't believe in curses, I think you make your own destination."
