Left work sick. Felt like a million bucks this morning, then all of a sudden it was like I'd taken a ton of bricks to the head. I hope it's just a combination of sleep deprivation and my period. I would like to not be sick, please.

Wanted to go out and watch the game, since it's Boomer's first start in Fenway as a Red Sox tonight, but now I guess I'm stuck with the radio. C'mooooon, Boomer. Rentería's proven me right. Your turn!

On a random note, Princess A-Rod used his understanding of crosswalks to circumvent natural selection.

My favorite part of the article is that it exists. A-Rod claims that after he spat on Darwin's grave, he just kept on a-walkin', and yet this made the news anyway, complete with several modest yet self-aggrandizing quotes (yes, you read that correctly) from our favorite Princess. I can't imagine how that happened. I bet A-Rod was on his cell to his publicist the second he turned a corner.

Actually, I bet the whole thing is a set-up. An eight year old boy who idolizes the Princess in Boston? Riiiiight.

My one and only contribution to the Sheffield Scandal, because initial gut reactions don't count:

Usually, I'm very much the "walk a mile in the other guy's shoes" type. Considering a situation from the perspective of all involved is pretty much second nature to me. And I've read some interesting, well-reasoned discussion of why the fan in the stands was a douche and did it on purpose and why Sheffield's reaction, while hardly ideal, was pretty human and could have been much worse.

With all that said: Sheffield sucks and I don't care.

Any other Yankee I'd give the benefit of the doubt - well, almost any other Yankee. Fans could storm the field and set A-Rod on fire while he was holding a kitten and I'd be all, "It was an accident!" But any other other Yankee and I'd probably be all with the walking a mile and perspective shit. Hell, if it were Jeter I'd probably take his side flat-out.

But I hate Gary Sheffield and I will not side with him and I know I'm wrong and he sucks. And, really, if I must exercise my right to be utterly bullheaded upon occasion, it's probably best that I do it in a situation where my opinion is worth nothing.

The end.

I may bring this up again, depending on how much people feel the need to harp on it for the next few days, but that'll probably be me demanding that people shut the hell up and move on already.

Edit: Something else I was wrong about - he definitely went after the guy before he got rid of the ball. Not after. Not sure if that allowed an extra run or if it would have been too late anyway, but still. Smooth.

GRAND SLAM ORTIZ. <3

And three previous runs in the inning. So, 7-0 Red Sox. Toto, I don't think we're playing the Yankees anymore.

Wells doing okay thus far. Certainly better than the Devil Rays' starter. Yeesh.
