So! Who's more excited for the Watchmen trailer than for The Dark Knight itself? Yeah, I know I could watch it online, but it wouldn't be the same. Smaller, for one thing, and no surround sound. I do want to see the movie, but MAN I'm stoked for that trailer.

I felt like iconning, so I sorted through the exceedingly random collection of images I have and made a few icons. Have them! Nothing special here, just cropping and bordering and the occasional smidgen of text, so no need to credit. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] foozled_up for keeping me from just chucking my computer right out the window when PhotoShop wasn't playing nice.

a bit of the Tigers, Torchwood, Gossip Girl, Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and technically Supernatural. Eleven total. )

Okay, so! I seem to recall promising unfinished would-be epic Supernatural fic. I'm posting it now because I'm officially going to get Jossed Kripked tomorrow, and I've got enough of it so that I at least want to show it off a little to the flist.

In keeping with the accidental theme of my recent fannish life, it is a crossover of sorts. A while back - late last year, I think - I read a cute little fic that I've lost the link to that was a Supernatural-flavored spoof of Wizard of Oz, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the Dorothy role. I found the fic amusing, and then the premise kind of started to eat my brain. There are, I have found, very few fics involving actors transported into the fictional world in the SPN fandom (which, honestly, surprises me, because: SPN fandom), and of course the ones I did find that took the idea more seriously were about Jensen and/or Jared.

So one night I started writing down bits of a 'verse wherein Jeff finds himself in the SPN world, and he's been brought there for a reason. I was just fooling around trying to get it out of my head, and somehow ended up with over nine pages of fragments. GENERAL SPOILERS through 3x08. )

HELP. I'm doing this CD-ROM thing for my Spanish lab (by which I mean "I'm mostly ignoring it like usual because all it does is drive me insane") and the video clip I just watched features a guy who looks like the lovechild of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem. Which, since those two pretty much ARE each other (check out my icon; that is, in fact, Javier, not Jeff, getting sexed by Josh Brolin), is extra trippy. I really wish I could screencap this shit for you guys.

You know one thing that I really have fun with in regards to Supernatural? It crosses over with almost anything. Seriously. As long as the other work in question is non-fantastical (or has rules that are similar to SPN's; crossovers with Buffy, for example, make my head ache because the shows' demons and vamps are way too different to mesh) and the timeline works out. And, fuck it, even if it doesn't, you can always throw in a convenient transdimensional vortex or whatever.

Some of the crossovers I've come up with have worked, to the point where there is unfinished fic littering my harddrive, and some of them are too cracky or convoluted to do anything but amuse me tremendously. Plus, you know, some of them I've forgotten. But I shall now share with you the ones I can remember. If I have fic for it, I'll throw in a snippet; if I don't, I'll write a snippet! Then at the bottom, there will be a bonus, non-SPN, totally cracktastic opening-sentence-snippet that probably isn't as funny as I think it is, but I need to get it out of my brain!

SPN/Dead and Breakfast )

SPN/Dexter )

SPN/Grey's Anatomy )

Bonus random crossover of crack! )

So . . . it's not wrong to start laughing during yet another Jeffrey Dean Morgan death scene because freaking Snow Patrol kicked in, is it? Because HAHAHAHA oh man. That storyline went down the tubes in a hurry.

The good news is, I only have the episode with Meredith's near-death experience left and then I am done with Grey's Anatomy. Sorry if you're a fan, but oh my god. A little drama goes a LONG WAY. Piling on the drama just makes me laugh, and killing off the heart patient with a random stroke after a successful transplant, which I cannot believe I just typed, and then cuing up "Chasing Cars" is an extremely hilarious way to kick off my birthday. Thanks, Grey's Anatomy!

And I am thinking that Izzie dodged a bullet here, because holy shit, if Denny's that pushy when he's near death, imagine how would have been healthy.

You know, it is typical of my luck that the episode of Angel that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in is, for my money, the second-worst episode of the show in its entire five year run. I had more or less repressed the nightmare that was the "Angel is a daddy now" storyline. What the fuck were they thinking when they came up with that shit? No wonder I thought the show was dead in the water at that point. Who thought that Angel petulantly refusing to dust some vampires that were trying to kill an innocent man would be funny? I can't believe I even typed that sentence. God, I have to go repress all over again.

Grey's Anatomy is going to be a fucking snap after this.

Reasons to see PS I Love You:

* Blithe subversion of an expected cliché at the end. It was great. I laughed.

* Excellent use of - of all the bands you'd expect in a romantic comedy! - Flogging Molly.

* Jeffrey Dean Morgan. With an Irish accent. Getting naked for the camera. I am reconsidering the "probably wouldn't sleep with him" thing. I mean, as if his voice wasn't sexy enough. I about spontaneously combusted.

Reasons not to see PS I Love You:

* If you don't like crying in a theatre. Because you will. Yes, even you.

* It is slowly paced and a good twenty minutes too long.

* Not enough of Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Though at least he doesn't die.

. . . yeah, I've got it bad.

Anyway. I liked the movie well enough and didn't feel like the vast, vast amounts of screentime not containing Jeffrey Dean Morgan were a waste of time. Coming from me, a staunch disliker of the romance genre, that is high praise indeed. There was good stuff in it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ending, but I have a feeling that in a week I'm not going to remember much of it except the accent and the ass shot. And the guitar. Mrf.

So I IMed my mother to asked if I could borrow her season two Grey's Anatomy DVDs because I wanted to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan's role, and the following exchange ensued.

10:32:37 PM Mom: yep, I fell right in love with him in Grey's
10:33:18 PM Me: I believe it. He's got the charisma for it.
10:34:02 PM Mom: wicked. I really just wanted to do him
10:34:37 PM Me: I kind of know the feeling, yes.
10:34:51 PM Mom: ok, lets talk about something else :)

Family bonding is nice, isn't it?

Yay, my internet is working!

I hadn't bothered to try it, since the modem was doing the weird flashy things with the lights that it was doing before, but the wireless I was poaching crapped out, so I figured it was worth a shot, and - once I reset it and it was connected to my computer, it worked. Oops. I wonder how long I was stealing wireless unnecessarily. Ah, well. I'd feel stupid and vaguely guilty, but I just can't feel badly for people who don't password protect their wireless. It's like leaving the door hanging open with your expensive electronics in clear view. Darwinism in its more subtle, no-one-actually-dies form. If anyone reading this has wireless? Lock it down. Otherwise, you are wide open to the opportunists who will happily take advantage of you.

I must now return to the episode of Sliders with Jeffrey Dean Morgan that serendipitously showed up on my flist just as I was starting to wonder how to catch up on the career of an actor who's mostly been working in television. The character is evil and thuggish and in black leather, guys. Every time I think I've got my sexuality figured out (in its current incarnation: guys are pretty to look at, but I would rather touch the girls), someone like Jeffrey Dean Morgan shows up to confuse me all over again. I don't think I'd sleep with him, though. Just, you know, stare at him and listen to him talk with that growly voice of his and go into a happy trance.

. . . and thus endeth the paragraph of More Than You Probably Wanted to Know.
