May. 18th, 2004 04:23 pmWell, I'm still here. I called Romeo's yesterday to see what was up, and was told that "we're hoping to get our act together in the next week." For heaven's sake. So, I'm going to apply at the Domino's down the street from Rikki's; she says they're desperate.
I watched Superstar USA last night, so of course I'm going to hell. Oh, god, that show is so wrong. So they have to lie and pretend the bad singers rock, but must they be cruel to the good ones? How does that help the scam? And, ugh, the heartbreak in the reveal. I keep thinking about Jerri's comments in the Survivor reunion, about how people watch reality television to get off on other people's suffering. (Aside: Sure, on the one hand, this was a bit rich coming from a woman fresh from her THIRD reality TV stint, but on the other hand, she was pretty much pointing out a fundamental flaw in human nature. Too bad she got booed so hard for it she had to flee before she broke down on national television.) She could have been talking about this very show. I'm going to keep watching, but only because I hope the entire thing turns out to be a big hoax on the audience. Now that would be funny.
