Well, at least the Yankees lost, too, 4-3, with Randy Johnson starting.

Wow, that sucked. Red Sox game: Suck to the tune of 7-1. Tigers game: Double suck, even though 5-3 is a less embarrassing score. Jeremy Bonderman just broke my poor heart.

First, he made this really terrible, girly flip to first that Dmitri couldn't handle and let D-Lowe on, and he did the Hat Removal of Wow I Feel Stupid. And then you could tell it threw him all off, because he started throwing a billion balls and then when he gave up a three-run homer (to Jeff Kent, by the way, an ex-Astro), he just screamed. I mean just stood there on the mound and screamed. Then after he got out of that inning, they showed him talking to Tram and chucking his drink (Bondo's, not Tram's), then there was a kind of cute shot of him sitting there pissed and Rondell going over to give him a little pat. Man, I just felt so bad watching it all. I want to give him a hug the worst way.

Bah.

To be fair, though, Derek Lowe had a great game and definitely earned the win. So good for him. Heh, as of tonight he and Teh Unit have the same record: 5-5.

Also, I think I changed my mind about the announcer, whoever it was. Once I got used to his grating voice, I noticed that he was saying actual interesting things and also saying way fewer moronic things than I am used to hearing. Plus, he was going on about Nook and his superspeed, and when Nook's hit was messed up by a fan touching the ball, the guy scolds the fan for "thinking he's more important than the game" and robbing us of "the chance to see Nook Logan run." Praising my boys earns you lots of points.

Hey, look, everybody! It's a post about things that happened in my actual life rather than in a baseball stadium! AMAZING.

Damn, it's a good thing I had to cancel my debit card today. Otherwise, I'd have spent the past few hours justifying buying a permanent account with a hundred and fifty bucks that I need to hang on to. ("I get coffee free at work anyway . . . and I don't need real food, everyone has to go through the Month O' Ramen sooner or later . . .")

Yeah, so as I mentioned before, I lost my ID case with all my stuff in it last Thursday. I got my birth certificate and adoption papers from my mom (she remarried when I was three and he adopted me, so my legal name is different from the one on the birth certificate) on Sunday, and then had the joy of the BMV yesterday to apply for a new photo ID. I, unlike most of the people in there, was smart enough to bring a book, and good thing too because it was busy. Man, I thought three PM on a Monday would be quieter. HA. So I got plenty of reading done and not too much squirming with impatience, although I did bond briefly with the woman next to me over people who think they are too special to wait. =D

Then today, after picking up a few extra hours at work (yay), I went out to the bank to get my address changed, cancel my card (which I had just had a block on before, in case I found it), and order a new one. Since I have my Social Security Number memorized, I had absolutely no trouble doing this. Which on one hand is nice, because I need a debit card to pay my bills and my photo ID won't arrive for at least a couple weeks, but on the other hand - I lost my Social Security card too. It disturbs me that someone can just come in, spew the right nine digits, and seriously fuck up my account. I'll have to see if I can get a note put on my account to require photo ID, because the convenience factor is overshadowed bigtime by the creepy factor.

Things I still need - a new library card (and there goes my lifetime streak of somehow never ever losing any of my library cards, dammit; I lose things all the time, so I was pretty proud of that), and a new Social Security card. The Social Security website is both specific and vague as to what qualifies as proof of identity, so I think I'll just wait for my photo ID. The library, I have no damn idea. All I needed to open the account was two pieces of mail with name and address, so I see no reason why it should be any more difficult to replace my card. So you know it will end up being ridiculous.

In conclusion, I would like to demonstrate how very pale I am thusly: I waited for like half an hour in the sun for a bus (and my precious Aeros, a delightful candy bar which I had heretofore found only in Canada, melted into little bags of liquid chocolate *snf*) and I am now burned. My melanin loses at life.

Watching the Red Sox Queer Eye ep.

I love how during the waxings Millar and Wake were just yelping and whimpering in agony, but while Tek was having his back waxed, he was all, "Pain? What?" Catchers are tough, y'all.

So Pedro threw a two-hitter tonight and everyone's all excited. WHATEVER like it's so hard to get a two-hitter against the ASTROS. (Not that my bias against Pedro is showing or anything.) At least the Astros didn't get their eleventh shut-out - final score 2-1 Mets.

Looks like Queer Eye made us miss some beanball in the Sox/Cards game. I'm watching the post-game and Dennis Eckersley is SO pissed because he doesn't think the first HBP from Halama was intentional in the first place and that guys getting hurt - especially that hit on Youk, right scross the chest, OW - is just utterly stupid in a 9-2 game. He's just barely keeping calm while he makes his (very valid) point. I'm sad I missed a round of beanball - five guys got hit, holy cow - but not sad I missed a big chunk of that game. QE was way more entertaining, because guess which end of that 9-2 we were on? Hey, at least we're still the only team in the AL that hasn't been shut out.

HA, Tom Caron pretty much just said that Jeff Suppan got Star of the Game because he sucked the least. That's awesome.

Also, for a change of pace, the Yankees lost to a crappy team (whose standings they now match at 28-30 each). Go Brewers!

The Tigers are currently tied with the Dodgers at two in the fifth. I will not be staying up for this one because sleep before work is good.
