I'm slowly making my way through the eighty gazillion baseball blogs I read every day, and with each one I am becoming increasingly happier that I chose the Tigers/Yankees game over the Red Sox last night. I had to watch my Tigers lose and the Yankees win at the same time, and it sounds like I still had a better time than everyone who watched the Red Sox game. The things I'm reading are just abysmal, and people sound just this side of suicidal, or homicidal, depending on the level of anger.
Tomorrow the Sox go to New York, so I get to have the Yankees drive me up a wall for another three days. And, having had the opportunity to see how the Yankees are playing right now, versus what I've seen the Sox do for the past week - man, I hate to even say this out loud, it makes me feel icky, but I'll just be happy if we don't get swept. I think timing has a lot to do with series wins, at least when it comes to teams that theoretically should be fairly evenly matched - if we'd played the Yankees two or three weeks ago I wouldn't have expected anything less than a sweep from the Sox, but now I'm just hoping we'll pull one game out.
(By the way, all my teams are having the same problem right now: Offense. What's up with that? Tigs, Sox, 'Stros, more hitting, please! I mean, there are other problems too, but offense is the only thing all three of them seem to share.)
Of course, tonight's games have not been played yet. We'll see what we see.
