Sep. 8th, 2006 09:27 pmWHAT. MLBTV wants another twenty bucks to watch the rest of the season. Is this new? Did I just not notice/care last year (which is entirely possible, since I had started working till midnight, and was superstitiously avoiding the Astros and snarking at the Tigers)? Blech.
Aside from that, it has been a fine and rather interesting day.
After classes, I stopped into a pizza place that's about two minutes from my house and asked the owner about a job we'd discussed, having gotten it settled to my satisfaction that I can handle working part-time in addition to school. So, I have a new job and I start tomorrow. Sweet.
Then, I went to the mall. I almost didn't go, but the headphones on my Discman broke and I need a new pair. (I also required some more Yankee Candle votives and wax tarts in Pumpkin Pie, but we're not here to talk about what a GIRL I have become.) I couldn't find anything decent, affordable, and wearable, but that's okay. Because, when I wandered past fye, I heard some loud music and went in to check it out. A local band, As Fast As, was playing a free show. And selling their CD for five bucks. The music was great, even in the sad excuse for acoustics that a mall store provided, so I grabbed a CD and got it autographed.
FUN FACT. I realized, after I left the store and was studying the CD, that the drummer is a kid I went to school with. I think I knew this way back when the band first started out. Funny, I didn't even recognize him. No, not even when I was standing there watching my CD cover get autographed. Because I am just that cool.
Then I caught the bus home. And halfway along, we had to stop and switch buses because the one we were on had brake and transmission problems. Wow.
And then the usual street they stop on was closed for a block party, so they stopped like twice as far away from my house as usual. Which is no big deal, it's still not that far, but in conjunction with the bus problems, it was a pretty eventful ride. I just started laughing when the driver made the announcement.
And then I came home and found out that MLBTV wants more money.
To recap: Job = good. Free concert and cheap CD = awesome. Bus ride = special. MLBTV = the devil.
Oh, and the Pumpkin Pie candle is divine.
