Dec. 26th, 2005 02:52 amSo tired. I deprived myself of sleep Friday night so I could go to bed earlier last night, which I did, but then I had a random bout of early AM insomnia. So that's, what, ten hours in the last two days?
Not that I'm complaining, mind you, because we have my four year old brother in the house and yet somehow he did not come to get me out of bed until eight. I got to sleep till eight on Christmas! With a small child in the house! Miracles do happen!
I didn't get many gifts, being as I talked with my mom a few months ago and explained about how I've outgrown the need for a big old pile of presents (that and getting nauseated at the very thought of chocolate right after waking up means I'm all adult and shit, I suppose), so instead of quantity, I got quality and am most pleased. Highlight: The 2004 World Series DVD set. I knew I was getting it, since I had discussed at length with Mom where she could look to get it at a semi-reasonable price, but that hardly made it any less fantastic. I can't wait to buckle down and watch me some baseball.
Mom also got me the first season of Murphy Brown, which I have fond memories of since I watched it every day when it was in syndication on the NBC afternoon lineup. We watched a bunch of episodes today, and it's aged well story-wise, but.
NOTE TO THE FASHION-CONSCIOUS: The first season of Murphy Brown was made in the eighties. And believe me, you can tell. Shoulder pads and huge collars and pencil skirts and belts just under the armpits and of course the eighties hair. It's every sartorial stereotype of the decade come to life and it hurts even my fashion-clueless brain to look at. It's really a shame, too, becuse Candice Bergen is a lovely woman and you can barely see it under that atrocious wardrobe.
In other news, I have received enough in mall gift certificates to replace my adaptor, and should be going out to the mall on Wednesday. I don't know exactly when I'll be returning Betsey's, but there'll probably be a gap of at least a day or so. I don't think I'll be on tonight, either, because I'm thisclose to needing toothpicks to prop my eyelids up and it's only ten o'clock. I will probably be folding my laundry (you know you're a young, struggling adult when a holiday visit to your family also means a chance to do your laundry for free) and then going to bed. I may or may not see you all tomorrow. If not, then hopefully Wednesday.
