Today I went out to a bar to watch the Pats game.

Things I learned:

* Don't go to bed at five when you're planning to be up at eleven-thirty.

* Because a friend with whom you had made plans to make plans will call at nine, and you will not be sufficiently conscious to succeed in killing her with your brain over the phone.

* I apparently do not like to go to new bars by myself. I'd meant to try the Asylum, as it came highly recommended, but what happened was that I went inside, took off my jacket, looked around, put my jacket on, and fled for the comfortable and familiar confines of Fore Play, which is my favorite sports bar. I'd still like to try the Asylum, but I'll have to go with someone.

* Fore Play has Shipyard Winter Ale on draft. Winter Ale is amazing enough from the bottle, but on draft? Nectar. I splurged and had three.

* Fore Play also does a free buffet for Sunday football games. There was pizza, hot dogs, and SWEDISH MEATBALLS. I don't think I've ever seen Swedish meatballs outside of family gatherings.

* The Pats defense does not exist. I'm not getting this from my scant football knowledge, either, it's coming from listening to the fans scream in fury. And really, it doesn't take a lot of knowledge to figure out how bad some of that was.

* Larry Johnson is a fast motherfucker.

* Tom Brady is useless/Tom Brady is awesome. This was a debate being had, which consisted mostly of one guy demanding over and over, "Who has more yards than Tom Brady? Who has more yards than Tom Brady?" I never did find out the answer. Yay for late-third quarter, multi-beer sports arguments.

* Watching the Patriots lose by a mere ten points is way more fun than watching the Lions lose by seventy-two, even though I don't get turkey after.
