Jul. 28th, 2005 04:18 pmSHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS BOSTON HERALD.
Yeah, isn't Manny just the anti-Christ, taking a day off right before an off day. Fuck, we'd've won that game if we'd had him. Oh. Wait. WE DID WIN THE GAME.
What is that crap? I have an astonishing thought for the day: Maybe, just maybe, Manny knows what he needs. After all, he hasn't been producing at his usual Manny levels (of Doom) this year. Maybe Manny thinks a couple days off might help turn things around. Maybe the person who knows what Manny Ramirez needs is bloody well MANNY RAMIREZ. Maye we should - GASP! - trust him.
Blech. I don't usually bother letting the Herald get to me. The sports section is crap, after all, and I can think of maybe two members of the Boston sports media whose writing is worth more than birdcage lining. They're really not worth working up the indignation, so generally I roll my eyes, laugh at them, and feel pleased with myself for reading the paper at the store or online for free instead of paying for their shit. The blogs I read are much more intelligent and enjoyable.
But they just keep jumping on Manny for every little thing, and it's such crap, and Manny is Manny, and even his unMannylike numbers aren't exactly hurting the team (any more than anyone else's), and he doesn't go around assaulting photographers or eating puppies, so why not let him be? Let Manny do what he does, and he gives us what he's got.
