Jul. 12th, 2005 10:34 amOkay, now that I have had sleep and some coffee, and I am feeling calmer: I STILL HATE BOBBY ABREU AND I ALWAYS WILL HE IS ON MY BASEBALL SHIT LIST but he really did kick some ass last night and he deserved to win the Derby.
And honestly, I expected Pudge to get knocked out in the first round. He's never been a homerun guy, and especially not this year, and Comerica is not forgiving about homeruns. Before he came up, all I was hoping for was that he wouldn't pull a Jason Bay. (Aww, poor Jason Bay. *pets him*) I about died when he made it to the final round, and I wanted him to win so badly my stomach was in knots. So, I didn't take it well when Bobby Abreu decided to be a jerk and beat Pudge's ass right in front of Pudge's kid and Pudge's fans in Pudge's town. Bite me, Abreu.
I said calmer, not less bitter.
However, now that Pudge has reminded us, and himself, that he can in fact still hit homeruns and long triples, maybe it will help to put him back on track in the second half of the season. As Sam pointed out at Roar of the Tigers, Pudge clearly hasn't lost any power, he just needs to make some adjustments and get his head back in the game. Which, considering that he is going through a divorce after something like seventeen years of marriage, is really only to be expected.
My agenda for today:
* Finish coffee and get dressed.
* Go downtown to BUY BRONSON'S CD YAY. (Yeah, I'm broke, but you bet I put aside money for this and for Harry Potter this weekend. I've been waiting for this for months.)
* Wander around in search of Help Wanted signs so I can fill out yet more applications, which activity I hate even more than Bobby Abreu but it is a necessary evil.
* Come home.
* Probably spend too much time on my computer.
* Watch All-Star Game.
* Get confused and think I am watching Red Sox game. Wonder why A-Rod is playing with Red Sox.
* Cheer indiscriminately because I have guys on both sides and I don't care who wins.
* Boo indiscriminately because I hate guys on both sides and I don't care who wins.
* Go to bed way too late and not get enough sleep for work.
