Bah. Red Sox on the West Coast for like the next week, which means I won't be able to watch too much baseball. I can pretend that staying up till eleven-thirty for a game when I have to get up six hours later is perfectly okay, but staying up for a game that doesn't even start till ten is right out of the question.

There was, like, no baseball yesterday. The Sox, Tigers, and Yankees all had an off day, and the Astros - yeah, they still suck. 6-3. At least it wasn't a one-run game? Oh, well. They'll snap out of it. Really.

I now present three reasons Why The Boston Globe Sucks.

1. They continue to pay Dan Shaughnessy to write things. Why? (And what is up with those smarmy little pencil sketches of the columnists? That's not really relevant, but it bugs me.)

2. Today they paid Dan Shaughnessy to make up a whole bunch of crap about how Roger Clemens should come back to Boston. (Oh, and by the way, LAY OFF MY ASTROS BITCH. I will take care of New England's Picking On The Astros quota, okay? Because I do it with exasperated affection, and you just do it because you suck.)

3. And they accompanied the article with several pictures of Clemens, one of which was disturbingly hot. THAT IS NOT ALLOWED GLOBE KTHX.

I follow with three reasons Why We Don't Need Clemens:

1. We already have six starters. Once they are one hundred percent functional *knocks on wood*, we're going to have to shove someone into the bullpen as it is. What would we do with a seventh? (This is partially a reason, partially an actual question which anyone who actually knows stuff may feel free to answer.)

2. Clemens's contract scares me, and so does the extra three million dollars a team would have to pay to get him from the Astros. Also, we would undoubtedly have to trade a couple young players into the bargain. Now let me see here, can I think of any teams that have done way too damn much of exactly that and are now paying the price with an aging team without depth? Oh, yeah. Let's learn from the Yankees and not start down that road. Probably a bit of an overreaction on my part, but it makes me nervous anyway.

3. Who says he wants to come back, anyway?

That's all. If there are flaws in my reasoning, go right ahead and pick it apart 'cos I might learn something, but it'll take an awful lot to convince me that such a trade can and should happen.
