Dec. 31st, 2004 11:13 amNote to manager: Yes, I said that if you called me LAST NIGHT to ask me to come in THIS MORNING if my coworker was sick, I would be happy to. No, that does not mean that you may call me THIS MORNING to ask if I can work THIS AFTERNOON and then be all "I'm sure I'll think of something *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*" when it turns out that I had the temerity to go ahead and make plans when you did not call LAST NIGHT.
I suddenly feel marginally less guilty for calling out Wednesday with "food poisoning" so I could spend the day with
manderspander, a dear friend whom I rarely get to see.
Amanda and I went to the mall, where I got Shaun of the Dead (YAY), an American League Championship sweatshirt for half of what I thought I would have to spend (more YAY), a Red Sox calendar that inexplicably includes Nomar (WTF?! What do they do, print these things January first?), and a button to replace my amusing but outdated "Re-Defeat Bush" button.
Since I really don't feel like reciting the entire list of Christmas gifts to the amusement of no one, I'll just bring up the highlights.
* A Schilling shirt from Amanda to go with my Tek one. Now I just have to wash and dry it a billion times until it is soft and worn.
* The Firefly DVD set from my aunt. This is especially remarkable since she had no idea that I was seriously lusting after it last year. She just picked it because she thought it was something I would like. Talk about your bursts of gift psychicness.
* The Freaks and Geeks scriptbooks from Mom. I thought that I would have to buy them for myself and just about died when I opened the package.
* Between various relatives, about two hundred bucks for my spending pleasure.
There's other stuff, but I just remembered that I need to get together with
peaseblossom03 for a gift exchange, so I must go call her and try to make hasty plans for today. Maybe she will go see Life Aquatic with me. It will do her good to be pried away from Sims 2 for a few hours. ;)
