Friends lists are weird.

I got friended by some people when I joined up with communities, so I returned the favours. I read my friends list every day - I check it as obsessively as I do my mail actually - and as a result I know some intimate details about random people. I know that someone just came out to her mom. I know that someone else had a dream about Anthony Hopkins and Witchblade DVDs.

I'm not complaining by any stretch of the imagination, just observing, so I would like it if those people didn't get mad at me. =) It's just fascinating - these are the kinds of things you'd write in letters to your friends, you know? In a way, that's what people are doing, but they're also writing them to total strangers. Several of the people in my list lock a lot of their messages, which does provide some privacy, but I and other random friended people can still read them.

Obviously, we all know better than to write crap in our journals that we wouldn't want people to see, so I'm not deluded into thinking that I've stumbled across innermost secrets here. It's just weird what we write when we know people are looking, but think they aren't. (I've done this myself.) That's all.

There. I've done a terrible job of explaining myself but that doesn't matter because I don't think anyone's reading this anyway. ;)

(But just in case people are, I hope I haven't offended anyone. It's just standard late-night rambling about things that only make sense in my head.)
