Hi, MLBTV,

I appreciate your thoughtfulness in trying to spare me a Sheffield at bat by going all wonky as soon as he came to the plate, but I did not enjoy missing that RBI that put us on the board. I am going to have to deal with this Sheffield thing, and while it was sweet of you to think of me, your enabling my denial will not help me in the long run. I am simply going to have to find a way to watch the Tigers without stewing in bitterness and resentment every ninth at bat.

Maybe if I pretend it's someone else who happens to be named Gary Sheffield?

At least you can watch. I keep getting: "There was an error. We apologize for the inconvenience. If the problem persists, please call Customer Support toll-free number: 866-800-1275." interspersed with "please give us all your credit card information (which we recognize you may not necessarily have but if not too bad for you, neener neener)."

I hate you, MLB.tv.

Dude, lame. I had to enter all my info before it would let me log in. And then, of course, there was the joy of being subjected to an embedded commercial before the feed kicked in. Isn't it wonderful how the MLB treats their paying customers?

For real. Can you imagine if, say, cable worked like this? Half the time you turn your TV on, it asks you to enter your credit card information and then another third of the time it just says "sorry, we're not working right now, give us a call if it still doesn't work in 20 minutes." SERIOUSLY enraging.

It's amazing what they can and do get away with because they monopolize the baseball market. If your cable company pisses you off, you can switch to dish or cancel altogether. If the MLB pisses you off, that's too bad because there's nowhere else you can go to get your major league baseball. You can't vote with your dollars because there's no other candidate and no space for a write-in.
