On the other hand, I sure as hell didn't mind abandoning the game for half an hour to watch Red Dwarf. Even though it was the very last episode, and didn't make very much sense, and made it pretty clear that the show declined rather drastically, and there was one scene that was so embarrassingly awful that I had to switch back to the game for a couple minutes, and really it was just like the game itself. I went in all excited, and left feeling drained. And kind of suicidal.

Ugh. But enough of that. If I wallow much more, I'm going to end up sticking my head in the oven before the day is out. And I can't do that, because a) it is actually a gas oven, so that might work, and b) - ta-daaa! - I got the job at Cumberland Farms and I start tomorrow. I'm scheduled for forty hours this week. At eight dollars an hour. Every time I start feeling dejected because I've ended up at another goddamn gas station, I'll think about how next week's paycheck will be the biggest one I've ever gotten in my life. And if I get punchy and reckless from exhaustion, I'll start greeting my manager with the Rimmer salute. And I won't tell him why.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think it might be prudent to go watch some of the Red Dwarf I rented yesterday. And possibly have some more coffee.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY CUMBY'S!!! No, DUDE. Cumby's is FAR from the realm of ordinary gas station attachments! Many many many many a long, dark, hot, dirty night of winding and grinding it up Goth-style has culminated in the sheer Nirvanic BLISS that is a half-pint of Tropicana purchased at the clean and shiny haven of sterile modernity that is CUMBERLAND FARMS. All Cumby's workers are Good People.

....and I have a CF nametag that says "Aimee" on it.

Congrats on your employment and your FAT PAYCHECK!! DOLLAZ! <--- wtf is wrong with me today, please? I hope lots and lots of strange characters frequent your shifts. WHOO!

The normal salute, or the possibly-John-Hancock-inspired one?

Congrats on the job(s)! Wages are nifty.

I can understand your earlier post about not prolonging the agony, but some thoughts: 1) Whether they win or lose this series, we will always have the awesomeness of David Ortiz's final at-bats in Games 4 and 5. Yankees fans can suck on those for a while. 2) With the win in Game 5, the Sox are forcing them to win it on their turf. It's as if they've said, "Don't think for a second that you can come up to Boston and win a series, you namby-pamby rich bitches!" 3) If (and this is a big if) Schilling pitches his ass off tomorrow night, it's all square and then it's anybody's series, which sets up the potential for the greatest comeback in playoff history. Which I guess was also kind of part of your either win-it-all or quit prolonging request.

Anyway, Game 5 rocked even though it went on too long, and I am happy.

Go Sox!
