I might actually just die of excitement before April gets here.

Titanic 3D.

HATERS MAY FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH LEFTHAND EVACUATION PROCEDURES. I saw Titanic in theaters ten times, okay? I was one of those teenage girls AND I REGRET NOTHING. I was really disappointed when 2007 came and went without a ten year anniversary rerelease, so I cannot express my joy over this. Watching 3D movies is a pain in the ass for me because I wear glasses, but I don't even care. I am ecstatic. Is it April yet?

YES.

I saw the trailer and I was all tweeting about how I wanted to see it in 3D. IDGAF, Titanic is AWESOME.

I fucking LOVE Titanic. Like, it's not even the nostalgia filter talking. It's a genuinely good movie. I am positive that if I saw it for the first time today, I would still like it. Maybe a little in spite of myself, but still. I would.

Oh, TOTALLY.

It's a well crafted movie. But the nostalgia factor helps. I distinctly remember myself following the 'OMG LEO' crowd for a little while there, too. hahaha /so embarrassed

ANYWAY.

That scene with the old couple in bed at the end? HAUNTS ME TO THIS DAY.

There are going to be a lot of movies to see in 2012. :)

*follows lefthand evacuation procedures*

In all seriousness, I hope you enjoy it! It IS epic, although I have issues with it (also, need to write Applegate and Lola doing the waltz as the ship does down), and it should be amazing in 3D

Oh, there are totally issues. Lots. Looooots. But I love it anyway. I was fifteen! It was the best. :D

That Applegate/Lola thing still totally needs to happen, yes. Oh yes.

Entirely fair! It just came out when a lot of the girls in my class were all 'OH LEO', and I was 'boys? what? I don't get it' (they were ten, and then the next where they were still eleven; I was nine, and a very slow developer that way anyway). So, it was coloured by annoyance. And then I watched it and loved it - or rather, loved Rose and the ship and all the details. Jack, not so much. And now I watch and go 'oh, I don't want love story, I WANT ALL THE SHIP. AND EVERYONE ELSE'. So, I don't hate it.

Oh, it does. It really, really, really does.

...you know, I was all set for those lefthand evacuation procedures, but then I realized I actually know literally nothing about this movie except that it is when people started caring about Leo DiCaprio and it made a lot of money? also a boat sinks

*does math*

holy shit I was nine when it came out, perhaps that is why

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
This is how bad the backlash was back in the day! EVEN YOU ARE PREPARED TO HATE FOR NO REASON.

I say that with the greatest of love, of course.

why was the backlash so bad XD

I was nine, what reason could I possibly have had to give a fuck

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Because of how intensely popular the movie was when it came out. After a little while, it stopped being cool to like Titanic and became cool to hate it. A lot. Like, a lot a lot. Like, so much that it became part of popular culture and has reverberated so strongly throughout space and time that even you (despite your general non-giving-a-fuck about pop culture) have assimilated it and responded accordingly. That's why this entry is so defensive. Liking Titanic is STILL a good way to get yourself mocked out of existence even by people who have never seen it.

I am curious to hear what you think of it! 3D movies generally give me headaches but I will risk them for certain films.

(Is this one? Dunno. I have an odd affection for it, but I don't think it's the greatest film of all time. Then again, I was watching with a different perspective at the time due to one of the actors being a friend of the family. :) )

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I would have preferred a 2D rerelease, but I'll take what I can get. I've only seen one 3D film (Lion King) and it gave me a headache too, which I attribute partly to the weight of the extra pair of glasses and partly to having been about two rows too close to the screen. I really hope Titanic will be easier on my eyes, or at least that the manic glee will make up for it. *g*

I think the last 3D film I saw was Tron: Legacy, and that was because I knew there was no WAY the special effects would be anywhere near the same in 2D. From what I heard after, I was right.

HP: Order of the Phoenix did very well as a 3D film, but it was only certain key sections that were 3D, so you didn't have to wear the glasses the whole time.

Beyond that, I try to avoid them like the plague. It just hurts too much. Although I found that I do better when I cannot see out the sides of the glasses...

I actually liked the movie the first few times I saw it, but started hating it ~later in life~ and now I can't even bring myself to watch it anymore. :|

I *spit* on Titanic, purely because it didn't feature my great-great-uncle what was on board.
