. . . so apparently I am so awesome that I don't even notice when we're having an earthquake. Seriously. I thought it just wasn't felt in Maine until I saw [livejournal.com profile] sotto_voice's post about feeling it in a building maybe a couple miles from where I was at the time. I'm pretty sure I know what I was doing: walking down the sidewalk. And okay, I know I can get pretty oblivious when I'm walking and I've got my iPod on, but damn. Oh, well. At least I was outside already, though I wonder if I might have felt it if I'd been in a building (without my iPod).

In other news, I got my hair cut for the first time in like a year today, because this is the first time in like a year that I could freaking afford to. This is a momentous occasion, as my hair is so thick and grows so fast than I've been feeling in these last few months like it might be trying to devour my face. I'm so pleased with the results that I took a photo to show you all!

I apologize in advance for the MySpace Emo Special pose; I photograph better when I'm not smiling, and for some reason today I couldn't get a picture of myself looking into the camera that didn't look like a startled trout.

In case you're curious, that washout effect is called "being too close to the MacBook when the 'flash,' which is actually just the screen going white for a split second, goes off." I had it propped up on my shoulder because I also wanted pictures I could show a stylist for reference if needed.

That's the result of the stylist spending longer than I would have liked with a hair dryer and a giant roller brush. (I hate hair dryers, I never use them.) Not as much trouble as you have, I'll admit, but not a natural effect, either, and not one I'm likely to bother pursuing on my own. (For what it's worth, I think you should get the cut you like before you go, if only to avoid thinking "man I wish I'd gotten that cut" every time you look into a mirror, but financial considerations are a thing too. Maybe leave it as is for now until you get a better idea of how much a stylist you like will cost, then if you can fit it into your budget go ahead and get the awesome cut? You do have pictures you can give for reference!)

Hangouts would be awesome! I start classes next week, but have managed a three-day-a-week schedule, so (maybe-)Thursday/Friday/Saturday are open. I hope for your sake that your neck is behaving by then. Well, ideally long before then. ♥
