I am not dead, merely lacking in internet.

The weather, however, is doing its best to change that first part. Oh god, how I hate summer. This heat wave is obscene. There is no reason for it to be hot enough to trigger an "excessive heat" warning from the National Weather Service in fucking MAINE. IT'S MAINE. WE ARE UP NORTH. WEATHER THAT COULD ACTUALLY KILL PEOPLE VIA TEMPERATURE IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN THE WINTER.

I am so glad I could come hide out in the air-conditioned library. I am less glad that they close early on Fridays. Less than an hour until I have to go back out there. I don't have A/C at home. I barely slept last night and I don't expect that to change much tonight.

If you are from a place where 99F/37C degrees (and that's before you factor in the killer humidity) at 5:30PM is normal, by all means comment and tell me so. That way I will get a chance to feel triumphant about the fact that at least our misery is temporary.

I wish could give you something to be smug about...unfortunately, my biggest concern is making sure I bring enough layers so that I can bundle up against the wind and fog after work. (Please don't hate me.)

It's about par for the course here in Maryland, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
