I just dyed my hair purple. (No photos; I tried, but my cell camera doesn't pick up the color at all. Like, I just went to check in the mirror again to make sure it was actually there and I didn't miss half my head when I was applying it.) I figured, since I'm between jobs, I may as well. I've never been able to dye my hair anything ridiculous because I've always been working somewhere that doesn't allow it. So, I now have purple hair. It's brighter than I thought it would be, but not florescent bright, so that's okay. I thought it would be darker and more subtle, since my hair is light brown and I definitely wasn't about the bleach it or anything like that, and darker is what I wanted, but this will do. This color is temporary. There are plenty of applications in the jar, though, which is nice.

In case you were wondering, by the way, it's a really bad idea to rinse the dye out under the tub faucet with the water running down over your face. Just putting that out there.

Yay crazy hair colors! *high five*

I think everyone who does unnatural hair colors learns that lesson eventually. First time I dyed my hair was at summer camp; I'd managed to get my hands on some blue Manic Panic during a field trip, put it on my hair, and rinsed it out in the shower without trying to keep the water from going all over me. My hair turned out awesome, but I spent the rest of the summer with the nickname 'Smurf.'

Exfoliant scrubs work pretty well at getting the stains out of your skin, BTW. I tend to go through half a tube of St Ives Apricot Scrub every time I re-dye my hair. And Borax gets the stains out of the sink/tub without too much trouble.

Thanks for the tip, you reminded me that I had a little thing of scrub I hadn't opened yet. My face looks much better.

My sleeves, they are long today.

It's far from the first time I've dyed my hair, but it is the first time I've used something you can't get at the supermarket in the hair care aisle. It's a bit different.
