Doctor Who!

. . . you know, it's just as well I haven't the brain for my usual exhaustive ramblings (hello, insomnia, one hour of sleep on Christmas Eve is not as appreciated as you think), because I CANNOT EVEN. Man, Rusty was smokin' the GOOD shit while he was writing that one. I still cannot stop giggling. I wouldn't know where to start if I could.

I'm so glad I imported a character into the Whoniverse in Milliways. Really. It's worked so well for me so far. Well, I've got plenty of time to figure out wtf I'm going to do about this shit. I'm thinking maybe protection via Chula warrior technology; I've been wanting an excuse to play with that anyway, since I doubt very much that the nanogenes, programmed as they were to create warriors, didn't leave little presents behind in their patients.

Also, thanks a fucking lot for the Obama cameo, Rusty, when pretty much the ONLY ONLY ONLY thing I felt one hundred percent safe in asserting for Milliways-Whoniverse American politics was that Obama didn't exist and (much like the UK) the States continued to be run by a series of interchangeable old white men. I guess I'll have to quietly retcon that. Good thing I've still got time in where I've dropped Cal into the timeline to do something about it.

And that was just weird, anyway, since when does the Whoniverse reference real-life political figures other than the Queen? It was very jarring.

In conclusion, EVERYONE IS THE MASTER NOW I DON'T EVEN FUCKING KNOW. I am afraid of how Rusty is going to top this insanity, but I will tell you this: My dear sweet sister gave me a bottle of Bailey's for Christmas. It'll be by my side come next Saturday, oh yes.

I AM TRYING TO INCORPORATE IT IN MY BRAIN. It's like, okay, if that one President was assassinated by the Master, then presumably the VP finished out his term, so if we set that basically any time prior to 2008, Obama getting elected works as long as one knows nothing whatsoever about American politics? Except for the part where THAT IS FUCKING STUPID OH MY GOD LET'S GET GORDON BROWN IN HERE WHILE WE'RE AT IT AND JUST KILL ALL THE SENSE OF OTHERNESS ABOUT THE WHONIVERSE IN ONE GO.

Rusty was all, "Children of Earth was reasonably coherent and genuinely absorbing storytelling. I'd better counteract that immediately!"

*facepalms* Oh man... Quiet retconning is fabulous. Maybe the election year could be off by a year or two.

. . . that would help a lot, actually. Maybe I could bump them forward by a year, and. uh. pretend Inauguration happens sooner than January? oh god I don't know. Like the Whoniverse timeline isn't infuriating ENOUGH as it is. It was a good thought, though!
