Today I got to use the term "temporal displacement" in a Sociology assignment. It was in a discussion of an article about how working for a twenty-four-hour resort can really fuck up the schedule a person lives on, putting them out of sync with most of the world.

Can't say that I ever expected being a Doctor Who fan to come in handy for Sociology.

I think the prize should be getting to be that person's successor, because how much fun would that be?

I had a moment of thinking you meant successor to the person working at a 24-hour resort, which, ow.

But yes! Learning of all the moments in which sci-fi/fantasy/way out of place stuff comes in handy in other areas of academia = WIN.

I will not deny that.
