Baldacci signs same-sex marriage into law.

That would be the Governor of Maine.

I don't even know what to say, you guys. I never dreamed this would happen here so soon. I thought maybe, you know, within the next decade or so. I mean, socially progressive Maine is not. It took repeated efforts over years of votes and referendums just to get equal rights made into law. I kinda figured we'd be one of the last, and but here we are, right up there in the first ten. In the first five.

I just . . . I'll be over here, being totally overwhelmed.

Way to be, ME! Maryland, meanwhile, continues to embarrass me over here :/

:: is terribly happy X3 :: It's moving. The statement the governor made was just awesome-- how he might not believe that way, but he refuses to let his own bias get in the way of removing discrimination.

It's awesome X3

I gotta disagree with you there. This is also the state that refused federal funding in exchange for teaching "abstinence-only" education in its schools, preferring instead to actually teach the facts.
