(no subject)

There are many things I could be doing right now, with various levels of productiveness and importance. But, I spent the evening rewatching a few episodes of Doctor Who's series four, so instead I wrote an incomprehensible drabble.

This is a Doctor Who/Les Miserables crossover, and will make no sense if you haven't seen DW 4x11, "Turn Left." For that matter, it might not make sense even if you have.

Marius draws breath to tell of the Jondrettes, and falters. The police inspector is looking at him strangely. No . . . past him. At the air just behind his shoulder.

"What is it?" he asks instead. The man's sharp gaze snaps back to his.

"Nothing. Go on, talk."

Marius stares, and finds himself stepping back toward the door. He will never be able to explain why.

"Never mind," he says. "I'm sorry to have bothered you."

The inspector's reply, heavy with a peculiar emphasis that makes Marius shudder, follows him outside.

"Young man, there is something on your back."

... yeah, I totally don't get it :B oh well XD

This time the tense didn't strike me at all ;) I just went "Wait, she said she always writes in present tense! ... oh, hey, she did!" XD

Basically, there's some kind of alien life form that feeds on time and latches on to people, causing them to change a decision they made. The changed decision makes excess time for the alien to absorb. Or something, the episode explains it really fast, but it's a buglike thing that latches on to the person's back. It becomes invisible in the alternate timeline, but sometimes other people can still sense that it's there. Marius has picked one up (. . . somehow . . .) and it stopped him from telling Javert about the "Jondrettes'" plot to rob and kill Valjean. (Okay, that last part you may have figured out on your own. *g*)

Is what I'm saying! Of course, with drabbles, there's a strictly practical reason for it - present tense uses fewer words. It saves a verb or two that can be vital in sticking to the one hundred word limit.

And the fact that Javert can see it is in NO WAY related to his status as PSYCHIC DETECTIVE? :P

NO NOT AT ALL okay maybe a little, but all sorts of random people could see Donna's in the ep! It makes perfect sense. *nods*

It is possibly the ONLY thing about this drabble that makes sense.

Also, I appear to be too lazy to switch SNs in my Firefox LJlogin add-on and refresh to reply with the proper SN.
