Wow.
Dear Nomar Garciaparra,
YAY! You just about brought tears to my eyes last night, man.
Love,
Cathryn
So, yes, Dad did manage to tape the game for me. Not that I didn't do my very best to keep track of the score during work (during my break, a fellow Red Sox fan/coworker gave me his car keys so I could check the score on the radio; at that point the Sox were ahead 4-1, which gave me the courage and fortitude needed to get through the silly seminar I had to go to next), and thus came home already knowing that the Sox had won 9-6. I watched it anyway, and it was still exciting. Beautiful plays and runs and pitching, tension, drama of the non-violent-and-petty sort, Sox hugs a-plenty, and Johnny Damon cheerfully toppling over to catch a ball and coming back up with a smile.
Today's game: Pedro Martinez v. Rogers Clemens part II, hopefully this time played with sportsmanship and good humour, and maybe somebody will remind Manny Ramirez that it's okay if Clemens pitches the ball within two yards of his head. Whoever wins this one goes on to play the Marlins in the World Series, and tomorrow will see thousands of Red Sox fans either delirious with joy or stunned with grief. Either way, ain't none of us gonna be fit for work tomorrow.
In other news: Hoedogg, got your package today. Thanks!
The new job is going fine; it didn't take very long to get used to the "free movie rentals" thing. =) In another couple of weeks I'll have to start counting the days until I can get PotC into my DVD player.
And, yep, that's pretty much my life right now. Work and baseball. Very little to no socializing 'cos all my friends are either at college or too broke to afford the gas to come hang out. I'm looking forward to winter break.
Oh, I also got my Amazon.com package a couple days ago; I got the School of Rock soundtrack and a CD called Magazine by Jump, Little Children. Yes, Hoedogg, that CD. =) The initial report is a good one; we'll see how they hold up to repeated listenings.

(Anonymous) 2003-10-17 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)So. I fell asleep during the bottom of the 9th last night and choose to believe that nothing happened afterward. The game ended in a tie and the Red Sox will share the 2003 AL title. I did not wake up and see the Yankwads pouring champagne on each other. Nope. That did not happen. I was just having a nightmare. A long nightmare that will probably last the rest of my lifetime and beyond, while Babe Ruth continues to laugh at Red Sox fans in spite of his being surrounded by the flames of hell for all eternity.
Or something. But the Red Sox did not lose last night. They did not.
And now, I have to get to my therapy session.
