So! After spending, oh, three years resisting because of severe advertising oversaturation during the 2004 playoffs and then another year or so just waiting for a convenient source to drop into my lap, I have finally come across downloads for House.

Clearly, it goes without saying that I like it. I knew I would. I mean, it has a bitter misanthropic lead character AND Claudio from Much Ado About Nothing. How could it miss? So I'm not posting about that. I'm posting to praise its amazing range of guest stars. I'm a little more than halfway through season one and I've already spotted Aaron Himelman (Friedman from Joan of Arcadia, hilariously still playing a fifteen year old), Amanda Seyfried (Lilly Kane from Veronica Mars, which is especially weird because I dreamed about that show out of nowhere the other night), and Danny Nucci (Fabrizio! From Titanic! Fabrizio was the shit!). It's like the ghosts of fandoms past. It's becoming increasingly entertaining to play Spot the Guest Star From A Show And/Or Movie I Loved Five Or More Years Ago.

(Also, is it going to get a little less formulaic? I could use a break from "Weird case comes up, House starts treatment based on an educated guess, treatment is wrong, patient almost dies, they all try again, they get it half right, patient almost dies, one of House's clinic patients gives him an epiphany, he pulls random obscure ailment from his ass, patient lives." It's entertaining, but it's getting so I can predict the rhythms of the episodes. I'd like to see that broken up a little.)

It's pretty formulaic. It gets more interesting in later seasons, IMO.

Hooray for multi-ep story arcs, then! I guess I got all spoiled by Supernatural losing the stock MotW feel as the first season wore on.

Hahaha. Stay tuned for the Tritter arc, unless you've already gotten to that one.

BTW, are you planning on coming online tonight?

(lol Kid Rock)

Eventually. I'm disinclined, but I promised. :P

Just trying to plan my night. :P Take your time!

Sorry, no. :( House is formulaic like Law and Order or CSI, basically. Sometimes they mix it up a little, like maybe once or twice a season. But on the whole it's pretty predictable.

I kind of suspected as much. Ah, well. At least there are also longer story arcs to keep my interest.

Don't forget the mid-episode MRI, in which something goes wrong!

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah! And one of them is always standing there going, "Oh, don't worry, it's perfectly normal to have snakes grow out of your face during this procedure." But then it turns out that it's something else entirely!

[identity profile] gileonnen.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Classic three-act. One bad guess, treatment, seizure. Second bad guess, treatment, coma-or-organ-failure-or-seizure; MRI. Third bad guess, patient is almost dead, sudden hey-presto right guess! And either the patient is doomed or he/she gets better (often against his/her will).

I'm still waiting for someone to die. I would have expected them to throw that "curveball" by now; I'm up to the seventeenth episode, for heaven's sake.

A few people die once in a while. They're not totally opposed to the idea, at least. Although that would be like the whole Irene Adler debacle in Sherlock Holmes.

LOVE for Friedman. He was seriously on House? XD

... and you seriously watched Joan of Arcadia? That's cool XD
