Torchwood drabble. Owen in the recent past 'verse, and if I don't come up with something shorter soon, I'm gonna swipe "recent-past-paradigm" from supervillainess and just use that. Spoilers for Doctor Who 3x12/3x13 and Torchwood 1x02. I really need to finish rewatching Series One; I'm getting up to the important Owen stuff and I'll practically have to take notes. Fun. :D



As she screams, something pops in the back of her mind and memories rush forward. Fighting for control and men reduced to ash and -

people, who knew what was happening and stopped it.

The Plass. She'll find them there and they'll stop this, too.

Carys gets almost to the fountain before one of the spheres dives down and gashes her side open. She stumbles and is caught by a man she hadn't seen, standing in front of the fountain. She looks up into his pale face, and sees shock there even greater than her own.

That poor girl--her encounters with aliens all end badly. (Are there any encounters that end well?) Does she stay with Owen for a while, do you think? Past the time it takes to heal?

But of course! He's going to need an assistant if he's to create a safe place in Cardiff - he may not have to stop to sleep or eat, but even he can't be in two places at once. And Carys is, like, the only S1 bit character who is in a position to understand more quickly about aliens and is neither dead nor evil. (Seriously, check the episode list. TW's guest characters do not have a high survival rate.)

... this is a good point. And maybe he can go find out if Roof Lady is still alive, and get a harem of assistant rebel doctors!

Yus! Too bad this is before her arrival in the timeline. She would have been an excellent choice. I think Carys will be interesting, though.
