I'm not sure what I enjoyed more about the episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures I just finished watching.
* The title, "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?" So silly, and yet so, so very right.
* The character who temporarily escaped death by drowning named Andrea Yates.
. . . I choose to believe this was a coincidence. I wonder if they'll change it in the US broadcast.
* The way it makes Torchwood look completely fucking useless. TW, DW, and SJA all take place in the same universe, which of course must be taken with a grain of salt, because if you think about it too hard you're going to wonder exactly how it is that the planet isn't destroyed at least three times a day. But this one is totally in my mental canon as the day Sarah Jane Smith showed up Torchwood without breaking a sweat, because that meteor got within seconds of obliterating the Earth before she stopped it without so much as a peep from Cardiff. What were they doing over there? Helping Ianto fix the coffee machine (or, perhaps more accurately, hastily backing away as Ianto threatened to shoot anyone who touched the coffee machine)? Inquiring minds demand to know!
Or not, because not knowing makes it way funnier.
* No cute tricks with the reverting timeline to make Maria's dad forget! He was allowed to remember! I'm so excited about this I cannot even tell you. Not only is Alan completely awesome (not Sarah Jane levels of awesome, obviously, but awesome in his own right), but how often do you see a TV parent get in on the crazy scifi action with their kid and be permitted to remember after? I really have to remember to expect more from British TV than I do from American. They actually know how to tell a decent story over there. (Can you imagine how awful this show would be if it were made in the States? Ugh. I'm sure they'd have me longing for the subtle grace of the Slitheen "gas exchange" jokes within thirty seconds.)
* Also, Maria's family name is Jackson. That's right. Her dad is Alan Jackson. Maybe the Andrea Yates thing really IS a coincidence.
Now if only the new Torchwood episode download WOULD FREAKING SHOW UP ALREADY, my geeky joy would be complete.

And of course Sarah Jane is awesome.
Was this the ep with Jane Asher?

way more than I loved tonight's Torchwood. Sarah Jane RULES. I need an icon of Sarah Jane ruling. And speaking of icons, I love yours. :D

And it is actually sad how much use that icon gets. Not all Torchwood related but it gets so very much use.

Now that I do believe. The internet has a lot of things to "oh no" about. *points at own icon, which is being used to show off, not for post relevance* I expect this one will get quite a workout once I've had it for a while.
By the way, you might be interested in the rantings I stuck into my Torchwood reaction post tonight. I know it's under a cut for spoilers, but it's actually really vague. I could probably leave it uncut without screwing over anyone on my flist who is outside the UK and doesn't do the pirate thing.
. . . actually, I could have used this icon for that post, but I didn't want it mistaken for a reaction to the ep in general.
