Right, so I don't usually either notice this sort of thing or care, but I've spotted a pattern on Supernatural.

Don't be a black man on Supernatural. It might take a while, but eventually you will die. If you're a black woman, you've got a shot at survival, but black men on this show are screwed. Agent Henriksen WAS the exception to the rule, but not anymore.

It's just an observation. I'm not interested in making accusations of racism or anything like that, and most of the characters in question were, by the traditional rules of storytelling, doomed the second they hit the screen. (Or, in Henriksen's case, the second he confirmed that he is, in fact, awesome when he is on the "right" side.) I just find it interesting. It's not a pretty pattern and Supernatural is not where I would expect to find it.

Great episode, though. Fantastic way to take us into the hiatus while we wait for the new eps, and it also would have served as a delightfully evil cliffhanger finale if the strike had gone on longer.

Also, I seriously need more Supernatural icons.

Well, I mean...it's the nature of the show. Everyone except Sam, Dean, and Bobby die. And even Sam died and Dean is (probably) going to also. Pretty much every other character they introduce eventually dies, black or white.

Yeah, that's why I'm more "huh" than "wtf" on the issue. People die by the truckload on this show, no doubt. It's just that black males are the only group with a hundred percent mortality rate when you'd think, based on probability, that one of them would survive now and then as happens with all the other groups. It's most likely coincidence - I'd have a hard time believing that it's deliberate! - but I never notice shit like this, so the very fact that I've picked up on it at all tends to make me think that it's getting kind of ridiculous.

I actually read a review where someone was saying women get pretty bad raps in that show, too. Like... stereotyping or somesuch. I dunno, I don't have any idea who the people discussed in the review were, so I couldn't make a judgment. But it was an interesting read.
