Yay for school computers with fully functioning keyboards!

I called a local Apple-authorized place to make an appointment to have my Mac looked at, which will be a couple of weeks. I'm also gonna schlep the computer out to Circuit City this afternoon to see what's what. With any luck, my plan with them will cover repairs, and I'll, uh, be computerless for a bit while they work on it. Yay luck?

So, yeah. The point of this post is to let folks know who need to know that I may not be around tonight, and if not, tomorrow I should hopefully be able to post from school with an idea of how long I'll be MIA. The timing is not thrilling, but then, it never is.

Even if I can get the PC repaired faster and free(r) than the Mac, I think I'll have it looked at anyway. If I could get monthly payments on repair costs that would work, and have I mentioned how much I miss it? Plus, having two working computers would be really nice and provide definite peace of mind in terms of future problems. It would also make me feel rich and spoiled. :D

Two working computers is always good! I should have my iBook looked at too.

And doesn't that Mac have the old chats and missing fic on it? Score! :P

Hm, a lot of warranties don't cover accidental damage. I know for sure Dell didn't, you had to buy it extra. I don't know what a store bought PC would have. But, anyway, I have a feeling it won't be very cheap to repair your PC. The odds are strong that your motherboard was fried and fixing that alone can cost $250. Remember a few years back when I spilled pop on my keyboard and it cost me $500 and Dell hoarded my computer for five weeks? Good times...

Of course, you don't have a Dell, so maybe you'll be lucky.

I bought a separate plan with Circuit City for when my Compaq warranty expired. I don't know if it will cover this, but it's worth a try. And hey, while I'm there, maybe I can find out why my CD drive has only been working half the time for like six months now.

I expect it is the motherboard, since the affected keys are a bit spread out and none of them are near the corner where I spilled. This is so silly, it was such a tiny little spill. It's not like I tripped and dropped the entire bowl!

Man, I'm not even sure my computer is worth five hundred anymore. It's not exactly a top notch piece of machinery.

It might. I have no idea. I know that the Best Buy warranty we got on our photo printer covered accidental damage. I bet places like Best Buy and Circuit City have better warranties than Dell. It is amazing how much damage a small amount of water can do.

Getting the computer fixed is always nice. My Dell was giving me headaches because of a motherboard issue and they came and fixed it at my apartment in about a week....but that was after about 6 months of fighting over a canceled warranty (which I never authorized) and having to buy another warranty out of my own pocket. But hopefully they are speedy and get you up and running again soon! Good luck!
