Hmm. May have spoken too soon in re: malware.
My computer is clean, as far as I can tell (though I could be missing something), but the same address keeps popping up on Avast trying to get back in. Avast is warding it off no problem, but frankly it's annoying and I would like it to go away. I can't tell if it's related to either browser (I've had it pop up once each while using Firefox, which I was using when the whole thing started, and IE, which I am using now; Firefox is off, but I did open it first, if that makes any difference). I know I have a computer expert or two in my f-list - what do I do? (
iarwain, I know we haven't spoken in forever, but I am looking at you in particular here. Please help!) I would prefer to avoid having to take it anywhere, since I have no money, so I want to try whatever I can on my own first before I cave and admit that I lose at owning a computer.
Help?

Let me know how that works. Make sure you have all the updates installed, too. Write down the exact name of the program Avast is stopping. Run regedit and search for the name of that program. Write down the full info in the key and delete it. Find the file it's trying to open and delete that file.

Thanks for your help. I think next time I can afford to go to an event I owe you a drink. Or you can look me up if you end up in Portland for whatever reason, and I can scrape up a few bucks to take you to one of our fine drinking establishments. =)
