I return triumphant, because:

* I got my new adaptor, and it works and everything. (Psst, Betsey, if you read this, call me about returning yours.)

* I got a copy of Serenity. (I am less triumphant about the cover art. Who do I emasculate for deciding that a glamourized tough-chick-in-too-much-makeup River was a good idea? Because you know it was a man. I am so glad I never saw that image before seeing the movie. It's so depressingly horrible on so many levels. Poor River.)

* Time constraints required me to get up at eight after falling asleep at four, and when I got back home at nine, I managed to sleep some more. This is a big deal, as I'm going through one of my phases where falling asleep is hard work. I wish I hadn't had to wake up at one, but I have to be ready for work (which includes being awake long enough to eat something, which I cannot do for at least an hour after getting up), plus I'd been having a lovely stressful nightmare which had been building to a grim conclusion, and waking up and falling asleep again was not enough to shake it from my brain.

* No devastating trades occurred in my absence.

wing2j picked up our copy of Serenity and went 'What in the hell is Faith doing on the cover? Wait, that's RIVER? AW HELL NO.'

I stared in horror at the cover for a second and then bitched on and on to

manderspander about why it was so awful. She had no idea what I was talking about, of course, but I take comfort in the knowledge that every single Firefly fan on the planet, from the most casual to scariest Browncoat, agrees with me wholeheartedly. I don't even have to poke around on the Internet to know what the collective reaction was.

It looks a really lot like Faith, and that kind of frightens me.

I'm still not convinced it's even Summer Glau. It looks like they grabbed some random brunette model and made her up and airbrushed her within an inch of her life. Might as well have, not like actually using Summer would make the representation of River any more accurate.

yeah, first words out of my mouth when I opened my Serenity DVD were "who the hell is THAT supposed to be? is that RIVER?"

Hooray for no devastating trades! Now you can travel without guilt. Possibly. And Kyle flipped out on Brandon a bit last night, just so you know. Nothing new, just more grumbling about Ye Grande Truste Issues again.

It's sad to comment in a perfectly normal entry with that sort of thing, isn't it? Ah well.
