Today I had to explain to some kid buying condoms what "spermicidal" meant. It made me sad.

I'm trying to take comfort in the fact that at least he's buying condoms so he doesn't breed, but I keep getting hung up on the 99% effective rate of birth control. Of course, that's assuming he knows how to use them correctly.

Well, he did buy the spermicidal ones, so I chose to feel encouraged. Not so much that he learned anything as that the chances of reproduction were a bit lower than if he'd gone for the ultra-ribbed.
