The following Red Sox are studs: John Olerud, with his home run to tie the game, and later with his RBI to bring it back within a run. Billy Mueller, with his RBI right after to tie it. Jay Payton with his triple. Edgar RenterĂa, with his homerun to get the first run of the game and his double to send Payton home for the last.
The pitching was no. They didn't get lit up or anything, but they just kept giving up runs exactly when we needed them not to. Yay to Keith for his 1-2-3 ninth, though. That's what we're looking for, Foulkie.
Also, hey, Embree didn't blow it. So that's nice too. Final score: 5-4 Red Sox.
That's a sweep for the Sox and a day off tomorrow before they go to Phildelphia. Where Ugie is now. *sigh*
The Tigers just destroyed the Twins tonight, 8-1. They scored at least one run in five of the nine innings, with two of those being multi-run innings, so it looks like they pretty much took the pitching apart. And a reverse situation from the Tigers/Giants game this time around - when the Sox game got crazy, I felt comfortable leaving to Tigers to their own devices because they pretty much had things under control. It was a quick game, too - it started an hour after the Red Sox game and ended at about the same time.
To recap: The Sox won, the Tigers won, the Astros won, and the Yankees lost. The third hundred percent night of the season!
