YAY HANSEL AND GRETEL. I love that movie, I really do. As you said, it's just charming in "okay, look, seriously, you know what you are getting, and we're going to entertain you" - and then it does things like an excellent brother-sister relationship, and the witches being allowed to wear awesome clothes and be obviously another species instead of just "ugly", and NO THREATS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ANYWHERE. None. Zip. Which given where Gretel ends up with the villagers, I was...really happy/startled by.

I have a raging fondness for popcorn movies who know it, and then do interesting/clever things under the surface anyway :D
