Here's a little question: Is good fanfic for a bad movie/show/whatever a shock? The evil entities at ff.net forced me to check out the section for Charlie's Angels moviefic, and a couple of the pieces I've tried have been quite good. I was stunned at first, but then I thought - and why not? When I write fanfic for something that's less than brilliant, I tend to put a little extra effort into it, because it takes that much more to make my work good. On the other hand, you'd think that some fandoms couldn't lead to good fic no matter what the writer tries.

So what do you think: Is good fic for bad fandom surprising or inevitable?
