Yes he is, although I think it's not entirely his fault - being unable to die is bound to have had a huge psychological impact - which no one ever seems to consider on the show(s)...

YES OMG YOU AND I ARE BRAINTWINS. I have railed on and on to anyone who will listen about how potentially fascinating Jack is as a character, and how the writers just keep dropping the ball because they won't even touch the fact that Jack's involuntary immortality (and tendency to die rather frequently) has got to have driven him insane by now. I don't think, at this point, that Jack is even capable of approaching the world from a perspective your average person could even begin to recognize. I keep that in mind when I write him and it definitely informs how I characterize him. Part of what caused this fic is the sheer WTFery of Jack's emerging from NINETEEN HUNDRED YEARS BURIED ALIVE with sanity (and coat) intact. NO. JUST. NO.

. . . this is a subject I get very capslocky on.
