Making it through thirteen pointless innings has drained my brain, so just a brief summary.

Red Sox won it, 5-2. I was at the mall rounding up job applications, but I'd had the intelligence to bring my radio Discman with me, so I ducked outside a couple times to check the game (no reception indoors, boo). I heard all the good stuff, including Olerud's RBI to score the first run, the aftermath of Mirabelli's two-run homer, and the homer that Bellhorn got immediately after that. While I was in the mall, the weather turned on us and a thunderstorm rolled in. It was still raining when I got off the bus downtown, so I got to listen to the last couple of innings walking in the pouring rain. Which was kind of nice, actually, since it was warm out, and ever since I got stuck outside in the not-warm rain for seven hours I have no problem with twenty minutes. They won it just as I got to my front door.

Astros won 7-1. It was a shut out into the ninth inning, but we're not gonna sweat too much about giving up that one run. Morgan Ensberg got his twentieth homerun of the season. For perspective, this puts him ahead of Papi and ties him with A-Rod, who is obnoxiously still first in the AL (tied with Teixeira). In the National League standings, it ties Ensberg with four other guys for third place. LOVE HIM Oh, yeah, and Craig Biggio is the official holder of the record for being hit by pitches, since he got nailed with another one after tying it up yesterday. That's 268 pitches he's been hit with. Ouch.

Tigers: Yeah. Thirteen innings. Wrong result. 4-3 White Sox. Fuck. Chris Shelton had his first four-hit game, and was responsible for two of those runs with an excellent two-run homer.

Yankees/Orioles rained out (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] ayrdaomei), so I do believe that makes the Sox up an even two games in the division.
