Re: Agreed

Sorry, in my haste and laziness I failed to include specifics. Here's the link to the article: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050415&content_id=1016357&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos The specific quotes that made me raise my brows:

"These people shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets, let alone come to a ballgame," said Yankees manager Joe Torre. Then he realized how that would sound to an already pissed-off Red Sox Nation, so he did a quick 180° and tried to cover his ass by adding: "The sad part is that it's a handful of people that screw it up for the people that just came to watch a ballgame." You know, even if his first statement really was just directed at fans who interfere, "Not fit to walk the streets"? Overstatement much? That's something I'd say about the Boston Strangler, not a (probably drunk) fan who stuck his elbow out at an unfortunate point in time.

I guess I have to retract my ire for Jeter though. For some reason I had thought he also made a blanket statement about Red Sox fans (maybe I read it in an ESPN article, I forget), but in this article he was just quoted referring to the individual as an "idiot". I can't really argue with that. But Bernie Williams ran his mouth quite a bit more than necessary about the incident IMO too. You can read his multiple bitter quotes in the article I linked.

In any case, we're 7-5, they're 4-8. And the thing I love is that they clearly have no idea how to lose graciously. So if they want to misdirect their anger at themselves for their crappy play to date, I think I'll be able to get over it. As long as they keep losing like the losers they are. Losers. Mwahahaha!
